Krishna is getting ready. His wife Sharada is helping him in making the arrangements. He is going out of station for official work. It is 7 O’ clock; his train is at 08.30pm He is quickly having his dinner while Sharada is finalizing his packages. He finished his dinner, made himself ready & went into his brother Jai’s room. “Bye Jai, all the best for your last exam. Take care & obey Bhabi’s words, she will take care of you well. I will be back in 3 days”.
Saying that, he kissed Jai & left the room. Jai is not very happy at this juncture because he is not very comfortable with Sharada. Krishna got married about 2 months back. From that time, Jai got a feeling that she has distanced his brother from him. Krishna was everything for Jai as he lost his parents very early in his life. But Sharada was always good to Jai & treated him like his son, but he is yet to understand that.
Krishna came out of the house with his bike key. He has a red Honda Unicorn 150 cc – both he & his wife drive the bike from the time they loved each other. Krishna punched the keys & started the bike. Then he noticed that Sharada could not lift the luggage – there were some heavier ones which he was supposed to take with him. Then he told, “Darling, will you drive so that I can handle the luggage”
Sharada replied ”I was also thinking of the same honey. Get down, I will drive”. She took charge of the bike & asked him to sit down. After making himself comfortable, he told “Chalo darling, I am OK”. She quickly engaged the gears & started moving. Though the weight of his luggage bothered him, Krishna enjoyed the ride very much. There have been many occasions where she would drive & he would sit back & enjoy. Sharada’s cute little hair kept painting on his face in the calm evening breeze. Her dupatta was touching his strong hands, the chain in her legs were making sounds as she changed gears – he was enjoying all these. What admired him the most was her driving has not changed for so many years. She has the same control & confidence what he saw in her 3 years back. She manages the speed very well – she could go at blistering 90s & 100s in a good road & at the same time she can ride at 30s & 40s in an average condition. Krishna never asks her to slow down at high speeds because he knows that she is in complete control. He could still remember an incident that happened 2 years back:
It was the time when they were loving intimately. They used to go for long rides along the beach road. It was one such evening – sun was down much earlier, there was lot of moisture in the air, it signed a possible rain. As usual, Sharada was driving the bike chatting about her day’s activities to Krishna. She was speeding from 50 to 70 to 90. Krishna got angry – “Where are you rushing darling? this is not good”
She replied ”Don’t worry honey, I have the control”
“I am afraid – I don’t know where is this going to end”
“I am there honey, I will be with you forever”
Suddenly, Krishna shouted “Stop, stop”. For a minute, he lost all his senses, closed his eyes & thought that he was dead.
When he opened his eyes, he realized that he was still alive travelling in the bike with his sweet lover. A very cool Sharada calmly asked “Are you OK honey? it’s just a small incident”
Krishna saw a street dog crossing their bike & shouted. But she did not stop the bike as there were many vehicles coming behind. Instead she turned the bike slightly to avoid the collapse. He still could not believe that she did that at 100 km/hr. it took some time for him to come out of the shock.
From that day onwards, he never suspects her driving skills. In the next 15 minutes, the station arrived. Krishna got down, kissed his wife & told her “Please take care of Jai darling, it will take some time for him to understand you, bear with him”
“I know honey, he is like my son, I will take care”
With a heavy smile, he went inside the station.
